Old Meets New Collection

Posted by Angeline Weiss on

When old intersects new, magic is made. With the newest collection, we have encapsulated just that - vintage romance, meets modern whimsy. The Old Euro collection has completely redefined what a timeless piece of jewelry is. Using century-old European cut diamonds in modern settings and modern cut gems in vintage settings, this line of rings is truly one-of-a-kind.

Let's go back, WAY BACK...

Between the 1890s and 1930s, Old European Cut diamonds were 100% hand cut making them each completely unique, with its own story to tell. Mother nature created, human hands perfected, these intricately crafted gems were specifically made to shine in candlelit settings, which is why they were cut with dispersion or “fire” of multicolor reflections always in mind. This is the main feature and cut differentiation which distinguishes an Old European Cut diamond from a Modern Round Brilliant Cut diamond; the more widely popular gem used in modern jewelry for its sparkle and brilliance and cut mostly for fluorescence light to show its best features.

Did you know....

With current machine and tool precisions, Modern Cut diamonds can be stylized to look like Old European Cut diamonds, made using modern techniques and wanting to look like an old cut diamond! Yet another reason why these authentic Old European Cut diamonds are a true rarity!

Last but not least...Role switch!

With sustainability and eco-friendliness in mind, Kasia decided to hold on to the original vintage settings and give them a new life with stones that feel more appropriate and bring modern feel out of perfectly vintage settings! You'll find modern cut onyx laid in antique platinum and 18k white gold settings, made to reinvent heirlooms for generations to come. The hand-etched, intricately detailed and most importantly original settings really speak to the soul that these pieces carry and can continue to be carried on.

We invite you to take a peek into this collection’s vintage meets modern feel and fall in love as if it was 1920 mixed with all things new!

December Birthstone, Turquoise!

Posted by Angeline Weiss on

‘Tis the season of Turquoise! As we roll into December, we swap out November’s warm hues and jump right into this beautiful cool-toned stone - just in time for Winter! Turquoise, being one of the world’s most ancient gems, has an incredible story to tell. From its rich history to its rich ocean blue hues, it's no surprise Turquoise has made its way to the top of some of our personal favorites!

This archaic gem dates back centuries serving as jewelry for ancient Egypt’s rulers and over 3,000 years ago was often even carved by Chinese artisans.

Turquoise is a powerful gem representing wisdom, protection, tranquility, hope and good fortune, so it's no wonder the Native Americans would use this gem so often in ceremonies and celebrations! Not only does this stone generate incredible energy, but it can be used to create some magical, unique, statement jewelry pieces.

One of the best features of Turquoise is that each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. Its distinguishably intense hues of light blue to greenish-blue can range from semi-translucent to fully opaque with some even having matrix patterns created by remnants of the rock the gem was harvested from. The most valuable turquoise is considered to be that which has no matrix pattern, an even medium blue color, and can be easily polished.

Turquoise is considered to be a more delicate gem. Ranging anywhere from 5-6 on the Mohs hardness scale, this stone does require a little extra TLC to ensure its longevity! We recommend you care for your more delicate pieces, like turquoise, by storing it away from the rest of your jewelry so as to avoid scratching or damaging the stone. Clean it with warm, soapy water, but avoid high heat as this can cause surface damage or discoloration. With mindful care, turquoise can be an excellent everyday wear statement piece!

December babes, being bold and strong-willed, you are deserving of a birthstone that mirrors those beautiful qualities - Turquoise will not disappoint!

October Birthstones, Opal & Tourmaline

Posted by Angeline Weiss on

October babies are lucky enough to have not one, but two amazing birthstones! Opal and Tourmaline both are known for the array of colors they give off, often times with multiple colors visible in one single stone!

Opal

First discovered in India, Opals are valued for their rainbow-like effect, known as “play-of-color”. The colors seem to dance in ever-shifting light, with a truly otherworldly feel.

The stone stands for hope, truth, and purity. Centuries ago, Opal was thought to carry the meaning of every color stone! For this reason, we like to think Opals carry super powers.

Australia is a prominent location through which Opals are found. The rare and exquisite Black Opal is found in Australia’s Lightning Ridge, where sweltering hot temperatures and little rain create the perfect environment for these precious stones. Boulder Opals, known for their vibrant shades of teal, are mined exclusively in Queensland.

Opals are a very delicate stone, around a 5-6 on Mohs Hardness Scale, and require extra love and care! Store Opals separately and by themselves, away from all other jewelry and stones which may scratch or damage the stone.

Our Poppy Necklace is one of our favorite Opal pieces, and makes the perfect gift for your October-born loved one.

Tourmaline

Tourmaline is a newer October birthstone and currently our favorite gem! Its name means “stone with mixed colors,” as multiple colors are often visible in one single crystal. Viewed as the “mood ring” of birthstones, we love to think of Tourmaline as the artist’s palette with a color for every feeling and expression. Sometimes mistaken for Emeralds or Sapphires, the colors of Tourmaline range from romantic pink, to deep green, to striking blue-violet with a bit more saturation and intensity. Our Justine Band is a beautiful representation of the wide array of Tourmaline colors.

This stone is rated a 7 on Mohs Hardness Scale, therefore it is generally suitable for everyday wear, and like Opal, is best cleaned with a soft toothbrush and warm, soapy water.

October babies, you are a rainbow of colors - bursting with life and personality! And you deserve a dynamic stone to match.

KJ Couples: Annie & Nick

Posted by Angeline Weiss on

We love your love! That is why we have decided to reach out to a few of our amazing Kasia Tribe members, new and returning, to tell their stories. Love is powerful, beautiful, diverse and worthy of honoring through your unique story. By sharing these openly with you, we intend to spread joy in a time when we need it the most. We understand the privilege it is to be a part of your story, and we hope the sincerity of these couples will reflect the very special relationships we aim to have with everyone who walks through our doors (whether in-person or virtually).

Next up, we have Annie & Nick, two adventurous Santa Barbara natives we are honored to know!

When did you know that your partner was THE ONE?

Annie: I have to admit the first time I met Nick I instantly had the biggest crush on him, but the first time I knew he was the one was when we took our first backpacking trip together to Southeast Asia in 2015.
Nick: I knew that Annie was the one when we first started living in Denver together. We had so much fun seeing shows, going out with friends, exploring and growing together.

What is one thing you love about your significant other?

Annie: Nick is my best friend. He makes me laugh more than anyone I know. I love that Nick supports me. He listens, he motivates, and he pushes me to be the best person I can be. I love that he jokes with me and he is never afraid of a new adventure.
Nick: We are best friends. We push each other to be better people and I can honestly say that I am the best version of myself when I am with her.

What is an activity you love to do together?

We live 2 blocks away from the beach in Santa Barbara so our favorite activities are always oriented around being outdoors and in the sunshine. Beach walks, yoga, surfing, hiking, and working out are all things that we enjoy. We also love going out to casual restaurants and sitting at the bar, chatting with the bartender and trying new foods and drinks. Most of all, we love traveling together; exploring new countries, experiencing new and different cultures, and getting off the beaten path.

How did you two meet? (Give us as many details as you’d like!)

Annie: Our first time meeting each other was during Spring Break back in 2012. One of my good friends from high school became friends with Nick while they both attended CU Boulder. We were attending the same music festival and were able to connect our two large friend groups which was when we met. The rest is history.

How did he/she propose?

Nick proposed on an early morning beach walk right by our house in Santa Barbara. He completely surprised me and even had a photographer shoot the whole proposal!

How does Kasia Jewelry fit into your story?

Kasia Jewelry fits so perfectly into our love story. From our first experience with Kasia, the designs, the customer service, the in-person and virtual appointments have been incredible. We are so happy with the rings that we purchased and feel that they encompass our love. Kasia’s beautiful, elegant, and simplicity fits so perfectly into our story.
